My First View

30 July 2011

My first view of the house was in an MLS listing.  Of course, there was the exterior photo, and then there were a few blurry photos of the interior.  This photo is the one that made me desperately want to see the house.  I had no idea what room it would be though I assumed it was a living room/family room, and I really wanted to know to where the french door led.  I loved the fact the room was closed off from the others as I am not a fan of open-floor plans.  I liked seeing a peek of another room from the doorway, and I loved the corner embellishments and the built in shelving unit.

1849 – Lewis Brockway

22 July 2011

On February 1, 1849 Lewis Brockway purchased the original 80 acres of land from the government where our home currently resides.  Brockway was a lumberman, and he purchased land to clear out the trees to sell to the farmers.
