The Hoeninghausen family are cousins to the Kessler family. Joseph Hoeninghausen married Susanna Kessler, sister to Christopher Kessler. The family immigrated in June of 1852 aboard the “Landdrost Leitcken” and settled in Detroit, Michigan. Their son Theodore served in the Civil War.
